Serves 2-3
Tridoshic, can be a meal to consume during fasting for Vatas and Pittas in certain circumstances. Kaphas may go a bit further on fasting (lemon water is also ok for a day) ;p), but as a super healthy meal it is still recommended.
1 cup basmati or jasmin rice, best would be sona masoori if available½ cup split yellow mung bean1/3 teaspoon turmeric1/3 teaspoon roman cumin
1 teaspoon coriander powder1 tablespoon ghee/buttersalt to taste3-6 cups of water depending on how „loose” you wish to make it, I like it most with 6
-> to the one on the picture I added carrot
If you wish to make it as your main meal, not as your „fasting” you can add extra spices like black pepper, cinnamon, parsley or cilantro, any green spice of your favourite and vegetables like carrot, spinach or kale.
Wash the rice and beans well, then keep for 20 mins soaked in water. Sautee the roman cumin a bit (if you use powder it is really few seconds) in the ghee/butter then add the rice & bean mix and turmeric, sautee the mixture.
Finally add the water boiling hot to it and cook for about 30-35 mins. The more water you added the less solid the final result is going to be.
You can eat it with takra, diluted yogurt with spices, sauerkraut, or few drops of lemon to have all the 6 tastes in it.
